Whether it’s one child or more, raising kids is a stressful job. Not only do moms have the task of caring for children and the home, many also work fulltime in demanding jobs. Others also have to spend time caring for aging parents.

Relaxation Techniques That Work

There are many stress busting methods available to busy moms which can be done at any time. Five tips that can help make the difference between coping and becoming overwhelmed are:

  1. Give yourself a head start when possible.  Get up ahead of the kids and savor a few precious minutes alone. Use this time to clear your head and prepare for the day ahead.
  2. Make time to exercise. This does not have to be one hour at one time, even small 10-minute breaks thorough the day will help improve your mood and overall health.
  3. Learn to breathe. This is a great technique that will help calm frayed nerves. Proper breathing techniques help control stress and improve health.
  4. Look at the small picture. It’s important for busy moms to realize that even the biggest task is just a series of smaller tasks. Resolved to tackle them accordingly.
  5. Treating oneself is a great way to relax. This can be as simple as eating ice-cream or getting a manicure or getting your hair done.

There is sometimes  the need sometimes to get away from it all and enjoy some alone time. This allows the stressed mom to find her center of gravity so to speak and replenish her energy. Fully enjoying the pleasures of motherhood requires managing the challenges that come with it.
